Can we really stop time?
According to Pedram Shojai, author of The Art of Stopping Time, maybe we can. We lose time by losing track of time. We’re so caught up in the hectic-ness of life that we find ourselves losing hours, days, years that we can never get back. Through his book, Mr. Shojai’s goal is to help the reader reach time prosperity.
“Time prosperity brings us peace, better decisions, better health, more family time, and a realignment of our priorities in a way that helps us bring fulfillment and purpose back.”
Pulling from his background as an ordained Taoist priest, Qigong master and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Pedram Shojai teaches the reader how to effectively stop time. Or at least this is the claim.
The 100-Day Gong and Stopping Time
The Art of Stopping Time is written as a 100-day gong. Based on an ancient Chinese practice, the idea behind a gong is that by making small changes every day for 100 days, you soon find that small steps lead to significant change. Small steps to significant change is a building-block of my coaching practice and something I have practiced in my own life for years. This is part of what drew me to give the book a try and see what happens.
I will be following the book and putting corresponding recommendations into practice. If you would like to receive email updates a couple times per week to see how it’s going, I invite you to do that here. I haven’t read the book yet (beyond the introduction). So, you will hear about my experience and reactions to the book as it’s happening. Full disclosure, I’ve been following Pedram Shojai for years. So, I’m pretty sure I’m not getting into anything I will totally disagree with. He did give me permission to do this series, but am not receiving any compensation.
I feel like I’m embarking on an adventure. There are so many things I’m curious about: Will I start sleeping better? Will the constant mind-chatter chill out? Is there a way to fit in more exercise with less stress? Will this just be one more thing on my never-ending to-do list? Let’s find out!
